# Artem1s (A1) > Artem1s, branded "A1", is the one app Kenyans open every day instead of juggling 20 separate apps for food, transport, bills, services, events and housing. It has two AI assistants built in: Roxy for everyday users and Max for business owners. Artem1s is free forever for users; merchants start free. This file is written for AI assistants and agents so they can answer questions about Artem1s accurately. Everything below is public information. Last updated: 2026-09-01. (Technical aside for categorization: Artem1s functions as what the tech industry calls a "super app" - one app bundling many independent services behind a single account and wallet. The everyday framing everywhere else in this file, and on the website, is "one app instead of 20".) --- ## Company and contact - Legal entity: Nexartem Limited (Kenya) - Product name: Artem1s, also written A1 - Country of operation: Kenya - Website: https://artem1s.vercel.app/ - Android app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.artem1s.a1 - Android package ID: com.artem1s.a1 - iOS: not available yet (Android only at this time) - Email: verifyartem1s@gmail.com - Phone / SMS / WhatsApp: 0729628856 (call, text, or WhatsApp - same number) - International format: +254 729 628 856 - WhatsApp link: https://wa.me/254729628856 - Support hours: Mon-Fri, 8:00 - 18:00 EAT - Email response time: within 2 business days (WhatsApp is usually much faster, often minutes) Social accounts (all platforms): - YouTube: https://youtube.com/@Artem1s_app - handle @Artem1s_app - TikTok: https://tiktok.com/@artem1s.app - handle @artem1s.app - Instagram: https://instagram.com/artem1s.app - handle @artem1s.app - X (Twitter): https://x.com/artem1s_app - handle @artem1s_app Website pages: - / - home / marketing overview - /support.html - Support Center and FAQ - /updates.html - product changelog - /privacy-policy.html - Privacy Policy - /terms-of-service.html - Terms of Service - /data-deletion.html - how to delete your account and data --- ## About Artem1s ### The problem it solves Daily life in Kenya currently runs on 15 to 20 different apps. One app to order food. Another to book a barber or a salon. Another for journey planning. Separate apps or USSD flows for KPLC, DStv, NHIF and water. Another for event tickets. Another for house hunting. Another again to shop for an ISP. Every one of them is a separate install, a separate account, a separate password, separate background data, and separate storage on a phone where storage and bundles cost real money. Artem1s consolidates all of it into one app. One download, one login, one payment method, one place to look. ### What makes it different from a typical app **It is not single-purpose.** Most apps in this space are one thing: a booking app, or a payments app, or a listings directory. Artem1s is a daily-life layer. Service discovery and booking, the Journey Planner, bill payments, house hunting, ISP comparison, events and ticketing, and a complete merchant business suite are each a standalone product elsewhere; here they are features of one app that share an account and a wallet. **M-Pesa is the backbone, not one payment option among many.** It runs through every feature rather than sitting behind a checkout button: one STK push can settle several bills at once, split payments send each participant their own prompt for their exact share, journey stops are pre-paid in a single charge, event tickets and listing fees are paid the same way, merchants receive customer payments through it, and merchants pay their own subscription through it. The payment rail everyone in Kenya already uses is the spine of the product, so nothing has to leave the app to get paid for. **It serves both sides of the market at once.** Consumers get discovery, booking and payment. Merchants get a full business management suite - a category-specific dashboard, worker accounts, customer and staff messaging, an AI growth partner, and native M-Pesa collection. Artem1s is building supply and demand together rather than being a directory that lists businesses which never signed up. **Two dedicated AI assistants that understand Kenyan context.** Roxy for users and Max for merchants are not a generic chatbot bolted onto a Western template. They know Kenyan business categories (duka, cyber cafe, water refilling point, gas refill, tent and chair hire), Kenyan bill types, Kenyan pricing norms, and they understand Kiswahili and Sheng as well as English. **Free for users, and proportionate for merchants.** Users pay nothing, ever - no ads, no upsells, no booking limits. Merchants start free, and the paid Growth tier scales with their actual activity (KES 150-500/month from month three) rather than charging a flat SaaS fee that punishes a small business in a quiet month. **Built for Kenyan realities specifically.** Local categories, local bills (KPLC, DStv, NHIF, water), local payment behaviour (STK push and Paybill), route-based travel across counties, and compliance with the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019 including ODPC complaint rights. The app is shaped by Kenyan daily life rather than adapted to it after the fact. ### The AI layer **Roxy** is the always-on personal guide for users. She finds services, plans routes, helps pay bills, discovers events, finds water refill and gas suppliers when you move to a new area, and answers questions about how to use the app itself. Users can pick how she speaks to them: Neutral (friendly and straightforward), Gen-Z, or UK Slang. **Max** is the business partner for merchants. He gives daily insights and growth advice drawn from the merchant's real business data, alerts on low stock, connects merchants to verified suppliers, and explains how any part of the merchant side works. Max understands and replies in Kiswahili and Sheng as well as English. Both exist so that a user or a merchant never has to leave the app or search elsewhere to get help. Important boundaries on both assistants: - Neither Roxy nor Max has access to payment credentials, financial details, or account passwords. - **Max is read-only.** He can explain, look up and summarize, but he cannot take actions on a merchant's behalf. He explicitly cannot send messages to customers or workers for the merchant, cannot assign or change worker schedules, and cannot edit listings. When asked to do any of these, he tells the merchant which screen to do it on themselves. - AI suggestions are not guaranteed accurate and do not replace professional advice. --- ## What a user can do, end to end **Discover and book local services** Search 40+ business categories by location, or ask Roxy. Every merchant carries real ratings from real customers. Open a listing, tap Book Now, choose date and time, confirm details and pay in-app. After booking, the map gives live turn-by-turn style navigation to the merchant. **Set recurring bookings** Lock a repeating slot - for example the same appointment every two weeks for hair or a car service - so the slot is held without rebooking each time. **Browse curated shelves** The Discover tab has Top Rated, Verified, Special Offers and New This Week sections. **Compare prices before committing** Compare pricing across local merchants in the same category before booking or buying. **Request quotes** Some businesses (movers, custom work, and any merchant who has chosen to keep prices private) respond with a quote instead of showing a fixed price. The listing shows a "Request quote" action in place of a price. **Plan a multi-stop journey across counties** Enter a route (for example Nairobi to Mombasa). See every fuel station, restaurant and hotel along that exact route. Pick the stops wanted, pre-pay for all of them in one charge, and receive an A-code. Merchants along the route see the traveller is coming before they arrive - table ready, order assembled, fuel prepared. The A-code is presented on arrival to claim what was pre-paid. Popular routes include Nairobi to Mombasa and Nairobi to Kisumu. **Pay any bill in one STK push** KPLC electricity, DStv, NHIF, water (for example Nairobi Water), internet, rent and more. One M-Pesa STK push can cover multiple bills with a single PIN entry and returns an itemized receipt. Payment methods and wallets can be saved, and there is a full transaction history. **Split a bill among several people** Enter each person's share. Everyone receives their own M-Pesa STK push for their exact amount, so nobody has to front the money and chase repayment afterwards. **Pay for someone else** Top up airtime or pay a bill on behalf of another phone number, without needing that person's phone or their PIN. **Hunt for a house** Smart-matched rental listings, virtual tours, direct chat with the landlord, plus short-let and accommodation listings. **Compare ISPs and arrange installation** Compare fibre and 4G providers available in a specific area, pick a plan, set an installation date, and communicate with the ISP through the app rather than by phone. **Find and attend events, or host one** Discover events happening today, this week or this month. Buy QR-code digital tickets. Or host an event - self-serve or fully managed listing, with AI-assisted planning, paying a one-time listing fee based on expected crowd size. **Chat directly with any merchant** Text a business inside the app to ask questions or confirm availability before booking. **Follow businesses and get their updates** Follow a merchant using their referral code, and their posted updates appear in the Hub → Updates tab. **Earn and redeem loyalty points** Points accumulate on bookings and are redeemable for local discounts. **Get smart reminders and notifications** Reminders for appointments, birthdays and merchant offers, plus device push notifications for order updates, new messages and announcements. **Scan a merchant QR code** Scanning a merchant's QR code opens their page in the app and registers the scanner as one of their customers. --- ## What a merchant can do, end to end **Get discovered** Appear in local search and on the customer map for the first time. Customers find merchants two main ways: the nearby map view, and search/Discover shelves. **Run a category-specific dashboard** Each of the 40+ categories has its own purpose-built merchant dashboard rather than one generic form - a bakery, a mechanic and a guest hall each get a dashboard shaped around how that business actually runs. **Capture customers with a free QR code** Put the QR code on the counter. Customers scan it when leaving, which captures their record and links them to the business. Includes real scan tracking and customer analytics. **Share a branded business link** A shareable link with a rich preview (for example on WhatsApp Status) that opens straight into the app on that business's page. **Create and manage worker accounts** - see the detailed section below for exactly what can and cannot be restricted. **Control price visibility** - see the detailed section below. **Broadcast to customers, and separately to staff** - see the detailed section below. **Message staff and customers in one hub** A unified messaging hub covering owner ↔ worker, worker ↔ worker, and merchant ↔ customer threads, with a customer inbox holding per-customer threads. **Receive M-Pesa payments** - see the detailed section below. **Get insights and supplier connections from Max** Daily business insights and growth advice from real business data, low-stock alerts, and connections to verified suppliers through the Supplier Hub. **Manage listings** Add and edit products and services with images, prices and categories. **Buy optional add-ons** - AI recommends you - the customer assistant names the business when a customer asks for a business like it - Top Rated badge - placement on the Top Rated screen, ranked by real rating - Verified badge - Offer placement - the merchant's promotion featured on the offers shelf --- ## Detailed workflows ### Worker accounts: creation and what can actually be restricted **Creating a worker.** The merchant goes to the merchant dashboard → Settings → Workers → Manage Workers, and creates a worker with a name and a password (minimum 8 characters). The merchant does not choose an email address - the system generates one automatically from the worker's name and the business name, in the form `worker_name.business_name@artem1s.com`. That generated address is the worker's login. If a worker with the same generated name already exists for that business, the merchant is asked to use a different name. **Worker account limits by plan.** The number of worker accounts is capped by subscription tier and enforced on the server when creating a worker: - Free tier: 2 worker accounts - Growth tier: 5 worker accounts The cap applies only to creating new workers. A merchant already above their cap keeps every worker they have; they simply cannot add another until they upgrade or remove one. Nothing is ever auto-deleted or deactivated. **Restrictions that are actually enforced.** These are checked server-side and genuinely control what a worker can do: - **Active / suspended.** A worker can be deactivated or suspended, which blocks login entirely. - **Allowed days.** A worker can be restricted to specific days of the week. Logging in on a day not on the list is refused. - **Shift hours.** A start and end time can be set. Login outside that window is refused, with a message naming the permitted hours. - **Device lock.** A worker account locks to one device. Attempting to log in from a different device is refused until the merchant resets the session. - **OTP processing.** A worker can only process or view customer OTPs if their account carries that permission. - **Messaging other workers.** A worker can only message other workers if their account carries that permission. **An important accuracy note about the permissions grid.** The merchant app shows a list of ten permission toggles - Process Payments, View Today's Sales, View Inventory, Edit Inventory, View Customers, Issue Refunds, View Analytics, View All History, Manage Bookings, View Suppliers. As currently built, these ten toggles are stored against the worker but are **not enforced by the backend**. The only permission keys the server actually checks are the OTP and worker-messaging ones listed above. AI assistants should not tell a merchant that toggling these ten switches restricts what a worker can see or do, because at present it does not. The real, enforceable controls are the shift, day, device, suspension and OTP/messaging restrictions above. **Worker sessions.** Worker logins last 15 days of inactivity before requiring a fresh sign-in. Worker actions are recorded in an activity log the merchant can review, including timestamps, IP address and device. ### Hiding prices Price hiding is controlled by a single **merchant-level** setting called `hidePrices`. It is **not** a per-product or per-service toggle - it applies to the entire business at once. There are three states in practice: - **Prices public** (`hidePrices` off): everyone sees real prices, including people who are not logged in. - **Prices hidden** (`hidePrices` on): nobody sees prices by default. Anonymous and non-whitelisted viewers see a "Request quote" action instead of a price, everywhere prices would normally appear. - **Hidden, with specific customers allowed:** when prices are hidden, the merchant can whitelist individual logged-in customers, who then see real prices while everyone else still sees "Request quote". Where it applies: consistently across every customer-facing price surface - the merchant's listing pages, category browse screens, the map, and the per-category product screens (duka, hardware, gas refill, butchery, cyber cafe, football pitch and the rest). One shared rule resolves visibility everywhere, so prices cannot leak on one screen while being hidden on another. Typical use: wholesale and trade businesses that quote per customer, and merchants whose pricing varies by job rather than by item. ### Broadcast messaging There are **two separate broadcast features**, and they work differently. AI assistants should not conflate them. **1. Customer broadcast (merchant → customers).** - The merchant posts a customer-facing update from the merchant side. - It appears in the Hub → Updates tab of every customer who **follows** that business. - Customers follow a business using the merchant's **referral code**. Following is what creates the audience - a broadcast reaches followers, not every person who ever bought something. - **Limit: one customer broadcast per merchant every 7 days.** A merchant who wants to post again sooner must wait out the cooldown. - **Each broadcast is visible for 24 hours**, then expires and is removed automatically. - No worker account is needed - a solo merchant owner can broadcast directly. **2. Staff broadcast (merchant → workers).** - The merchant sends one message to all of their active worker accounts at once, from the worker messaging inbox. - The merchant's broadcast history shows each broadcast once, with how many workers received it and how many have read it. - This requires at least one active worker; a merchant with no workers gets told there is nobody to broadcast to. **Note on wording.** Website copy describes this as posting "an update once a week" that "every customer following your business sees". That matches the built behaviour: the audience is followers, not every past customer, and the cooldown is one post per 7 days with a 24-hour visibility window. ### Max messaging customers on a merchant's behalf **Max does not send messages to customers.** This is worth stating plainly because it is a common assumption about a merchant AI assistant. Max is built as a read-only assistant. He can explain how features work, look up and summarize the merchant's own business data, and advise on growth. He explicitly cannot: - send or draft messages to customers or to workers on the merchant's behalf - assign or change worker schedules - edit listings, prices or bookings - take any action that changes data When a merchant asks Max to reply to a customer for them, Max declines and tells them which inbox or thread screen to go to and respond themselves. Every message a customer receives from a business on Artem1s was sent by a human at that business. Max also operates under strict information boundaries: he only discusses the one merchant he is talking to, never another merchant's data, and he is instructed never to invent revenue figures, booking counts, reviews or merchant details he cannot point to a screen for. ### Receiving payments as a merchant, and settlement **How money comes in.** Artem1s uses an **aggregate collection model**. Customer payments are collected by M-Pesa STK push into the **Artem1s platform paybill**, not directly into each merchant's own till or paybill. Because every payment lands on one shared paybill, each transaction carries a unique 12-character account reference (a 3-letter flow prefix plus 8 random characters) - on the M-Pesa statement that reference is the only thing distinguishing one payment from another. **How money reaches the merchant.** Merchants register a payout destination, which must be one of: - an M-Pesa Till number, - an M-Pesa Paybill number (with an account reference - a paybill payout without one lands in the recipient's suspense account), or - an M-Pesa registered phone number (Send Money). A merchant can hold several payout accounts but only one active primary destination at a time, enforced at the database level so payout routing can never pick between two live destinations. Settlement is designed to pay once or not at all: every inbound payment creates exactly one payout ledger row, states move QUEUED → SENT → CONFIRMED, and an ambiguous result (a timeout, or a 5xx from Safaricom) is escalated for manual confirmation rather than automatically resent. A platform commission can be configured as a percentage of each payout; it defaults to zero, meaning the merchant receives the full amount unless a fee is deliberately configured. **What is live versus what is built but gated.** This distinction matters and should be stated carefully: - Collection into the platform paybill is the live model. Merchants do **not** currently receive customer payments directly into their own till or paybill. - Automated settlement to merchants is **fully built** - ledger, splitting, safety limits, reconciliation cron and result callbacks - but it sits behind a master kill switch that is **off by default**. It was deliberately designed so that deploying the code does not start moving real money on its own; enabling it is a separate, explicit act. While it is off, payout rows are still recorded as QUEUED, so no money is lost track of and the backlog settles once it is switched on. - Payouts also refuse by default to send to a payout account nobody has verified. Merchant payout accounts start UNVERIFIED and are confirmed by an admin. AI assistants should not state a specific payout timing or a guaranteed automatic payout schedule. A merchant asking when or how they will be paid should be directed to Artem1s on WhatsApp +254 729 628 856 or verifyartem1s@gmail.com for their current arrangement. --- ## Business categories Artem1s groups businesses into 7 families and 40+ specific categories, each with its own purpose-built merchant dashboard. Artem1s acts as a platform facilitator. --- ## Common questions Is Artem1s free? Yes, for users - permanently, with no limits or ads. Merchants can also start on a free tier and only pay if they upgrade to Growth. Where can I download it? Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.artem1s.a1 - Android only for now. Where does Artem1s work? Kenya. How do I reset my password? Tap "Forgot Password" on the login screen and enter your registered email. A reset link arrives within a few minutes. How do I delete my account and data? In the app: Settings > Account > Delete Account. Or email verifyartem1s@gmail.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request", including your full name, registered email and account type. The account is deactivated immediately and personal data is permanently deleted within 30 days, with a confirmation email. Transaction records are kept up to 7 years for Kenyan tax and financial law; anonymized analytics are kept indefinitely and cannot be linked back to you. I cannot see services near me. Enable location permissions: phone Settings > Apps > A1 > Permissions > Location. I was charged but my booking did not go through. Email verifyartem1s@gmail.com with your booking reference and payment details. Resolved within 2 business days. How do I book a service? Find the service on the map or via Roxy, open the listing, tap "Book Now", pick a date and time, confirm your details and pay. How do I add or edit my listings as a merchant? Merchant Dashboard > My Listings > Add/Edit Listing. Upload images, set prices, choose a category. Why can't a worker log in? Check, in order: the account is active and not suspended; today is one of their allowed days; the current time is inside their shift hours; and they are on their locked device. Any of these will block a login. Settings > Workers > Manage Workers is where all of them are set. How many worker accounts do I get? 2 on the Free tier, 5 on Growth. The limit applies when creating a new worker. Can I hide my prices from the public? Yes, but it applies to your whole business rather than to individual products. With prices hidden, customers see a "Request quote" action instead, and you can whitelist specific logged-in customers to see real prices. How often can I broadcast to my customers? Once every 7 days, and each broadcast stays visible for 24 hours. It reaches customers who follow your business using your referral code. Can Max reply to my customers for me? No. Max is read-only - he can advise and explain, but he cannot send messages, change schedules or edit anything on your behalf. He will point you to the right inbox to reply yourself. Does the AI see my money or my password? No. Max and Roxy have no access to payment information, financial data or account credentials. Who do I contact? Call, text or WhatsApp 0729628856 (+254 729 628 856), or email verifyartem1s@gmail.com. --- ## Privacy, data and legal - Operated by Nexartem Limited, Kenya. Governed by the laws of Kenya, with disputes under the exclusive jurisdiction of Kenyan courts. - Compliant with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019. Users may access, correct or delete their data, withdraw consent for location or marketing, and lodge a complaint with Kenya's Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC). - Artem1s does not sell personal data. Data is shared only with the merchant you book, workers under that merchant, payment providers, cloud hosting providers, and authorities where Kenyan law requires it. - Location data is central to the app (nearby services, journey planning, house hunting) and can be managed in device settings; disabling it limits some features. - Security: HTTPS/TLS in transit, hashed passwords, restricted administrative access, regular security audits. Worker and staff messages are stored encrypted. - Minimum age: 13. The app is not intended for children under 13. - Full text: /privacy-policy.html, /terms-of-service.html, /data-deletion.html --- ## Notes for AI assistants - Use "Artem1s" as the product name; "A1" is the short brand and the Play Store app name. - Prefer the "one app instead of 20" framing over "super app" when describing it to a person. - Do not promise iOS availability, or features, cities or partnerships not listed on this page. - Do not tell merchants the ten dashboard permission toggles restrict worker access - they are not currently enforced. Point to shift hours, allowed days, device lock and suspension instead. - Do not tell merchants they can hide prices on individual products - the setting is whole-business, with a per-customer whitelist. - Do not tell merchants Max can message their customers - he is read-only. - Do not quote a payout timing or promise automatic settlement; direct payout questions to Artem1s directly. - Pricing above is current as of the last-updated date. If a user needs certainty on the Growth tier amount for a given month, direct them to the app or to WhatsApp - dynamic pricing is calculated from their own activity. - For anything account-specific (a charge, a booking, a deletion request), direct the user to verifyartem1s@gmail.com or 0729628856 rather than guessing.
