Welcome to A1 (Artem1s), a platform developed by Artem1s that connects merchants, users, and local services across Kenya. Artem1s (trading as A1) is operated by Nexartem Limited, Kenya. Contact: verifyartem1s@gmail.com.

2 Information We Collect

2.1 Merchant Accounts: Full name and email address; Business name and category; Payment information (Till numbers and mobile money details); Business location (GPS coordinates); Product/service listings including images, descriptions, and prices; Worker email accounts created under your merchant account.

2.2 User Accounts: Full name and email address; Phone number; Location data (to show nearby services, plan journeys, enable house hunting); Booking history and service preferences; Payment information for bookings, rent, bills, and event tickets.

2.3 AI Interaction Data (Max & Roxy): Business activity and customer visit patterns (Max for merchants only); Search queries, journey plans, and service preferences (Roxy for users only). Note: Neither Max nor Roxy has access to financial data, profile credentials, or payment information.

2.4 Automatically Collected Data: Device type, OS version, and app version; IP address and general network information; App usage patterns and crash reports.

3 How We Use Your Information

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Display relevant local services based on your location.
  • Process bookings, payments, rent, and event tickets.
  • Enable messaging between merchants, workers, and customers.
  • Power AI features (Max and Roxy).
  • Send notifications for bookings, rent reminders, and bill updates.
  • Facilitate digital house hunting and WiFi/ISP discovery.
  • Improve app performance and user experience.
  • Comply with Kenyan laws and regulations.

4 Location Data

Location data is central to the Artem1s experience. We use your location to show nearby merchants, services, and events; help users plan travel routes; enable merchants to appear in local search results; and support house hunting with location-matched listings.

You can manage location permissions through your device settings at any time. Disabling location permissions may limit or disable certain app features.

5 How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share it in limited circumstances:

  • With merchants when you book their services.
  • With workers under a merchant account (only data the merchant grants access to).
  • With payment service providers to process transactions securely.
  • With cloud hosting providers who host our platform.
  • With law enforcement or regulatory authorities when required by Kenyan law.

6 Data Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary. The details are outlined in the table below:

Transaction records Up to 7 years (Kenyan tax & financial compliance).
Anonymized analytics Retained indefinitely (cannot be linked back to you).

7 Data Security

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) across all sections.
  • Secure storage of passwords using strong hashing algorithms.
  • Restricted access controls for sensitive administrative data.
  • Regular security audits and infrastructure monitoring.

8 Your Rights Under Kenyan Law

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements).
  • Withdraw consent for location access or marketing communications.
  • Lodge a complaint with Kenya's Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC).

9 Children's Privacy

A1 (Artem1s) is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we become aware a child has provided information, we will delete it immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy: We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will notify you via the app or email. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
